A4 Risograph print on 200gsm 100% recycled paper.
This print is a gesture of solidarity between Ireland and Palestine - two places with long histories of colonisation, resistance, and struggles for self-determination.
It's based on a badge design commemorating the 1916 Easter Rising, a key moment in Irish history when people fought for freedom against British rule. The fight for land, freedom, and justice continues today in Palestine, where there is an ongoing and brutal genocide.
"Tiocfaidh lá na Palaistíne" is a rework of the well-known slogan "Tiocfaidh ár Lá" (our day will come). In this context, it becomes a message of hope and defiance - that Palestine’s day will come too. The word “Saoirse”, meaning freedom in Irish, features prominently in the design - what is still being fought for now in Palestine. Free Palestine in Irish is "Saoirse don Phalaistín".
This piece is also intended as a commemoration of Palestine’s struggle, incorporating Palestinian symbols in the style of a badge, a tribute to resistance, resilience, and the right to liberation.
This print will be part of the London Dlúthpháirtíocht exhibiton. All profits from sales of this print will be donated directly to Dignity for Palestine, their charity partner, who are working on the ground in Gaza.
